Our short story

 

 

A) General idea

 

 

 

 

In groups of three, students invent a short story (approx. 200 words), using some of the key words provided (from the current lesson in the coursebook). Then these stories are transformed into a so-called “word cloud” with the help of the webtool www.wordle.net, printed out and – together with the original titles – distributed to one of the other groups of three that does not know about the original story. This other group now writes and then records another story out of the words provided by the word cloud-printout, using the audio-tool www.voxopop.com.

 

 

 

 

B) Tasks and procedures – step by step

 

 

[before we start: In the classroom: With the help of the vocabulary cards, think about a possible story of about 200 words. Write down your ideas!]

 

 

In the ICT-Room:

 

 

1.     Write your short story, using Office-Word.

 

 

Remember:      - Around 200 words long

- Ue all 7 key words from the card your teacher gave you

- Use your notes / ideas collected in the classroom

- You have got 45 minutes to do this task – use your time!

 

 

2.     Think about a fancy title

 

 

Remember:     - Write down your title on extra piece of paper (ask teacher)

 

 

3.     Safe your story to hard drive

 

 

Remember:     - Print out your stories and give them to your teacher.

                      - Don't forget to also hand in your title!

4.     Use www.wordle.net to transform your story into a word cloud

 

 

Remember:       - Design / fashion your word cloud

- Print out your version

- Hand it in to your teacher

 

 

5.     Have a look at the other group’s word cloud. Identify the words that are from the lesson in the coursebook

 

 

Remember:     - You may use your books to find out about this

 

 

6.     Write another story with Office-Word

 

 

Before you start writing, discuss your ideas in your group!

 

 

Remember:      - Use at least three words that are in the word cloud

you received and in your coursebook

- Use the title that came with the new word cloud

                        - Use two more nouns in large font from the word

cloud for your second story

                 - This second story must be at least 200 words long, as well

                 - Make sure you safe your second story, as well

7.     Create your group’s profile on www.voxopop.com

 

 

Remember:     - Tell teacher the e-mail address you are using.

 

 

 

 

8.     Record your second story with www.voxopop.com

 

 

Remember:     - Every member of the group has to record a couple of sentences

9.     Listen to our stories and compare them to the originals!
